How Auctions Work
COCO Auction is a Gateway
COCO Auction acts as an intermediary between you and the actual auction houses (Copart, IAAI). When you place a bid through COCO Auction, our team places a corresponding bid on the source auction on your behalf. This means the auction happens on the original platform, not on COCO Auction itself.
How Bidding Works

You find a vehicle on COCO Auction and submit your maximum offer.

Our team reviews your bid and places it on the source auction (Copart/IAAI).

The auction runs on the original platform with all registered bidders.

If your bid wins, we begin the import process. If not, you're notified immediately.
Important: No Guarantee of Purchase
Because the actual auction takes place on an external platform (Copart or IAAI), other bidders outside of COCO Auction also participate. A winning offer on COCO Auction does not guarantee that you will acquire the car. The final auction price may exceed your maximum bid, and another bidder may win. You will only be charged if your bid actually wins the auction.

Auction Won
Your bid wins the auction. We confirm the purchase and begin processing paperwork.
Payment & Transfer
You receive an invoice with the full cost breakdown. Once payment is confirmed, we arrange vehicle pickup from the auction yard.
US Inland Transport
The vehicle is transported from the auction yard to the nearest US port for overseas shipping.
Ocean Freight
Secure container shipping across the Atlantic to Bremerhaven (Germany) or Gdynia (Poland). Real-time tracking available.
Customs Clearance
Full legal handling of customs duty, excise tax, and VAT. We manage all documentation and compliance requirements.

Vehicle Condition
Most auction vehicles are salvage or insurance write-offs. Damage levels vary from minor cosmetic issues to major structural damage. Always review photos, damage reports, and condition grades carefully before bidding.
Timeline Varies
The 6–8 week timeline is an estimate. Shipping schedules, port congestion, and customs processing can cause delays. We keep you informed every step of the way via your dashboard and messages.
Additional Costs
Beyond the auction price, expect buyer fees (8–15%), US transport, ocean shipping, customs duty (6.5%), excise tax, and VAT (23%). Use our Import Calculator for a precise estimate before bidding.
Documentation
We handle all customs and import paperwork. You'll receive all documents needed for vehicle registration in Poland, including the customs clearance certificate and proof of tax payment.
